I want to put together a page of terms and explanations we use here on SeawayFishing. If you have any others to add or feel that a word or term needs a better description let me know below.
Sulking – What schools of large fish do when they aren’t feeding, usually on the bottom but can be midwater.
Mooching – Slow methodic surface feeding behaviour usually associated with yellowtail kingfish.
Bustup – Surface feeding behaviour by multiple fish at once.
CCM – Chika Chika Muroran, A colour of Ecogear Grass Minnows commonly used in the seaway.
Turbo Troll – Fast Trolling between 6 & 8 knots first used by Jayde over the Canyon and in the Northern Y.
Sipping – What birds do to pick up bait feeding on or near the surface. Not associated with fish feeding.
Tracking – Birds looking down into the water tracking fish pushing bait to the surface.
Tarpon Tap – Subtle feeding behaviour by Tarpon where they come up behind your lure and nudge it, hit it, grab it with just the front of thier mouth.
Kaboom! – What happens when a GT hits a popper.
Edge Fishing – Casting lures at the edge of the rocks of the seaway
Pipeline – The Sand Pumping Pipe that crosses the Seaway from South to North.
Vision 111 – the name we use for the Megabass Vision 110 + 1 lure
FWF – short name for Foul Weather Fishing, associated with 20-30kt winds and rain.
Dead Sticking – A technique used with softplastics, basically getting a soft plastic to a certain depth then not retrieving or moving the rod.
Slow Rolling – A soft plastic technique where you cast out your plastic then slowly wind it back to the boat.
