I'm thinking of making some changes to the site this year, but before I do I would like to know what aspects you like the most about seawayfishing.info. Is it the indepth articles? The up to date reports? Anything else? What keeps you coming back to check the site? If you don't comment I won't know so don't complain if I change something you like. Also what aspects don't you like? (too hard to navigate, not enough reports, not enough detail etc).
I want honest feedback so feel free to say what you want.
Craig is the creator, web designer, admin and chief contributor for seawayfishing.info. He has fished the Gold Coast Seaway and Broadwater constantly for more than 10 years and loves the constant challenges and variety that the area provides. He is also constantly analysing fish behaviour to work out patterns, trying new techniques and trying to understand just why fish act they way they do. SeawayFishing.info is the result of that.
Craig,
I think you have got it right. Would appeciate some more close up photos of lures, rigs & live baits.
Happy New Year Richo.
Everything about the site is great i find it the most in depth and helpful fishing report around i got a nice GT on the ougoing on sunday thanks to this site so im hard pressed for ideas on changes…
First off, merry xmas guys, hope you all had a good one and 2013 is even better.
The thing i love about this site, and gretsch touched on it was your reports. Ive learnt heaps off you, even thought you dont know it and anything that i can pass on to fellow seaway/broadwater fisho’s, i do.
No one on any other forum pours out the info like you do and im sure thats what keeps us coming back.
The only other thing would be what Richo talks about, an easy way of finding all your info on rigs and so on. I know the info is here but you have to go back page after page to find a perticular post on a certin rig you may have used or tried.
I know on here everything is all in together where as the forum has the means to be able to split everything into their own categories. IE easier to find, for us and for newbies.
Of cause more reports would be good but as the site grows so will the reports.
I guess at the end of the day you could really transfer all the info on here over to the forum and it would all be under one roof with just, i dont know, maybe 3 or 4 topic pages. Having said that i know this is your baby but for ease of navigation around a site the forum wins hands down.
Might be something to look at in the future.
Craig keep up the good work, if you build it they will come.
cheers
Just been thinking….
maybe
REPORTS, (seaway, broadwater, ocean)
TACKLE, (Rods ,Reels, Line, rigs, SP, HB, Hooks, swivels, what ever.)
ELECTRONICS, (Says it all)
GENERAL CHAT (About anything else.)
Hi Craig
I would not change that much if its not broke why fix it?
but I see we have over 105 members now which probably only 5% have a in put to this site as in post,s
There’s an awful lot of zero post,s next to there names, so perhaps you could restrict what the see in til they
have 10 post’s or so of worthwhile in put rather than just take and not giving any think back to this site
Cheers bob
Hey mate. The sites great. I think maybe add a ‘record fish page’. Where any members can post up pics of fish they caught on a brag mat. Say… Species list, 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Best fish for 2012 , 2013 of that species. I think that might encourage more photos and posts.
Eg.
TOP 3 BIGGEST FOR 2012
GTs 1st 2nd 3rd. (Have to include 1 pic of fish on brag mat)
Yellowtail King 1st 2nd 3rd. (Could also include how the fish was caught and what times, tide etc.)
Bigeye Trevally 1st 2nd 3rd. (Update it as soon as a bigger fish has taken its spot)
Tailor 1st 2nd 3rd
Im in singapore right now, visited about 5 tackle stores so far. Terminal tackle and lures are so cheap here its not funny.
Happy new year everybody…
Hi Craig,
Love the site and the addition of the forum has made it even better!
The articles you write are great, it would be great to have some more e.g. trolling the seaway. However, you can tell you put a lot of time an effort into these so I guess it is up to you.
I really like Kane’s idea of a fish record. (Might have to photoshop some of my fish to stretch them out!)
Cheers,
Brett
Hi craig, I like the idea of more info on rigs, rods and techniques etc. I am completely new to fishing the gold coast and especially the seaway. I have learnt so much from your site in the past 4 weeks. Still no fish…….but at least I feel like I’m beginning to know what I am doing. Keep up the good work. Oh, love seeing photos……and I also found some clips you posted on you tube..maybe some links to these. Cheers and good fishing!
All my videos are shown on the videos page, link is at the top of the page. http://seawayfishing.info/category/videos/
Thanks Craig, still learning this stuff cheers
Hi Craig,
First off love the site didnt know about it..
With what i have read on this site i have caught some nice fish in the seaway.
As for changing some things on the site, that is your choice mate. And im sure it will
be to make the site better for all users..
Maybe just the addition of fishing rigs used by the guys that do fish the seaway
on a weekly bassis
Cheer
Andy
Firstly i have to say what a great site this is and the info i have had from it is second to none
i agree with alot of the guys comments here like how to troll the seaway and what rigs to use as mentioned but if you look on the site you can usually find what you need
Craig you have done a great job on this site and so have the members adding all there bits and pieces on there experiences and what they are catching and giving there information is just fantastic
Happy fishing in 2013 to all and keep safe
Ricko
Hi Craig,
I love how seawayfishing is specialised to a small area – ie seaway/broady/inshore gc. Sure it probably means less members will join up but in a way thats a good thing because atleast every one is talking about the same thing in the same area.
I love reading your reports and others that are posted – I dont always get out to fish too often, but when i cant all im thinking about is the next fishing trip and seeing whats on the bite and where the bait is etc is great info.
Kanes idea for fish records is a great one – great to encourage some more posts and photos because im sure everyone loves them
I think you should consider expanding beyond just a forum and look at starting seaway fishing tuition – not like a charter who’s customers are mostly are just interested in bottom bashing and gettign pissed – but specialised small group/one on one sessions aimed at developing techniques and tactics in the seaway/broady/inshore. If anyones got the knowledge for it you do…I will happily be your first customer!
Tim
Thanks for all the feedback fellas, keep the suggestions coming. I’m definitely going to implement some of those ideas, more details a bit later.
Craig the site is pretty spot on as is I think, especially the detailed and timely reports. Also the info on lures which my lure box has followed closely. The only thing I can think of is your sources for some of those hard to find lures….although I understand supply can be limited on some so perhaps just those available locally. I often go to BCF when rapalas are discounted but the range can be limited. Gordo
Hi Craig the up to date reports are great I don’t have any mates who fish so getting a feeling for what’s about from here is helpful.I managed a 72cm gt the day after your 20/12 report, wouldn’t have even gone looking on a runout tide for fish feeding at that time of day without a heads up.MAybe you could add a link to seaway tide times to the page that would be handy.Great work for 2012 let’s hope 2013 fishes as well again. Thanks Gretsch
