So now who’s heading out this week now that the rat race is over???
I’m heading out tomorrow morning.
Plan is to get to the ramp really early & try and get at least one Pike for live bait, but hopefully a few as reserves lol.
Picking a mate up at the ramp at 6am & take him out to hopefully get afew GT;s since the biggest fish he’s ever caught is an under sized Bream.
Then Get the downrigger out & drop the bomb down to about 7m to 9m and drag a Pike around till we can get a hook up.
I might look silly in the Seaway, But will be fishing heavy. Deablo reel spooled with 70pld mono & a 60pld Fluro Carbon leader. Reel has 66pld of drag
Plan is to concentrate on the pipe & will drag anything hooked away from the pipe with the boat to sandy bottom lol.
Works down sth, should work here to I hope
A note on the kings… most were being caught from the end of the north wall, run in tide using livies….He didnt elaborate on the livies but im guessing slimies or yakkas, for me ill be happy with herring, mullet, pike or tailor.
From my experience Kings can be very fussy,
Generally only rats will take lures in shallow water,
But if they are feeding hard n fast, then anything will do. But it rare hence why Craig always says that Kings are an early morning & late afternoon fish in the seaway on lures.
But they will take a well presented Livie any time
