Rain has stopped and I’m out to get some pike and hit the Eddy this arvo around 6 for the change of tide (low tide). Lets hope I get lucky this time (with the Eddy – not the pike). Gonna give outside the seaway another go again in the morning for Mackerel. The swell was 2.1mts yesterday smashing on top of the south and north walls, but tomorrow its meant to be 1mt with 8 knot NNW winds and SUNNY so should be great conditions for fishing. Will lets ya’s all know how I go.
Well we drifted and cast for pike for at least an hour to only catch 2 pike. I even started throwing the cast net out for the water was so dirty. I caught 1 pike, 2 herring, a little leather jacket and a few blue swimmers. Off to the eddy we went right on dusk and the change of tide, but absolutely nothing so we move down to the pipe where there were many boats and catching nothing. I went up to the cove at North Currigee and caught a heap of herring and hardies then headed back to my fishing spot just outside the 4 channel markers at the entrance of Bayview Harbor. We couldnt get the anchor to grab after more than 10 attempts so we went and slept on a mates big boat up in paradise point till daylight came when we hit the ocean for Mackerel.
We trolled around just outside the seaway for 2 hours in 20mts – 30mts of water and got onto an 8kg Mackerel on the Purple Chrome Laser-Pro again just like last weekend. I was very amazed to catch anything for the water was so murky but i was happy to catch just 1.
Nice spanish mate you got something for the effort. Was it the deep diving laser pro? I heard on Sunday guys at palm beach were getting spanish trolling down rigged minnows where the cleaner, saltier water is…and palmy had both talle and currumbin run off. I didnt get out at all on the long weekend, was hoping to get out Monday morning but mrs was panicking with kids school starting.
