Finally got my first Seaway Jew today

We persisted and trolled for hours to get 4 Pike.
Headed over into the Seaway to target Kings.
I had a real novice deckie today.
I sent him down with the first Pike,
took a while but he got nailed & pulled the hooks on a nice Jew.
He insisted I do next,
wasn’t even on the bottom 2 minutes & solid hook up to an 84cm Jew.
Went back for his second livie drift. again within a minute another solid hook up & again pulled the hooks.
Now even though we agreed on 2 pike each, I just couldnt use it since he didn’t have a fish in the boat.
Back for another drift, 2 minutes later he gets a solid bite & bite straight through 60pld leader with out even thinking about it.
We went back to try n fish more Pike, but after an hour n no Pike we called it quits.
The Jewies were so thick,

Just a shame the Pike are still a pain in arse lol

Can pike be caught with a cast net? there must be a way of berlying them up with what ever they like most and then throw a net over them.
Also can u cast a XR4 and slow retrieve instead of trolling? and if not why?

The Pike are scattered all over the place,
You could cast them I suppose,
The other thing is to, they are in around 1m deep

So the best time to fish for them is on the high tide so there is plenty of water over the weed beds?
When I went it was nearly low tide and the weed beds were very shallow and I had problems with the prop bottoming out.
