I am new here but I have been on quite a few fishing forums over the years and I see here too that it has its share of members that like to accuse fishos of killing fish. You know at the end of the day as long as every one sticks to the bag limits as prescribed by QLD laws then really picking on someone for keeping a few trevs seems pretty pointless and not very productive. I like to keep a few fish here and there but release most of mine but I don’t begrudge anyone keeping a feed as long as it is within bag limits and you will find most fishos feel the same. It is a small minority of greenie fishos that think they are fisheries officers that seem to think that we actually care what they think.
I stopped posting up my catches on forums a couple of years ago because of the heat I attracted over a big brissie river Threadfin that died on my line after my unsuccessful attempts to revive it a couple of years ago. So basically after that the other members lost my posts as a resource to help them catch Threadies. I even got threatened with violence after posting a photo with the background showing where I was.
You will find that if you attack those posting up there catches then the posts will stop coming and we will be all the poorer for it.
If someone is breaking a rule then sure, let them know but if they are within limits then keep your opinions to yourself unless you have something positive to add.
Basically I say congratulations on your catch of GTs and I hope they went alright on the plate. You have done nothing wrong keeping a few.
