Was just experimenting with the 7″ let it hit the bottom then felt a mighty grab. First I thought it was a snag as thats how id presented itself. Then there was some mean headshakes in which I was thinking this could be a big big jew.
It took about 15 minutes to get color however everytime I felt I was getting somewhere, my 4000 Daiwa Freams with 20lb Sunline super PE kept screaming drag. It was towing the boat around the wavebreak wall however lucky it did not go for the pilon. There were scuba divers underneath as well and from that point I thought I am going to be lucky to land this thing.
Color came and once aware it was a Kingfish I was elated however it was still another 30min and multiple attempt of netting the thing. We lost one net as the power of the KF fell right through. That was scary. But still managed to keep the hook in.Its amazing how the KF use your boat as an object to hide under. Clockwise motions to anti-clockwise and finally netted with the use of another boats net.
Countless headshakes, sore back, photos then released for it to live another day. I think that will be my trophy fish for some time.
