Well the last three ive got have been during to lead up to the first quarter.
One night back at the boat ramp I got talking to some guys who just chase jews and they said New moon up to say tonight is the best time to target them before it gets to light.
Many years ago my grandfather got a 60lb/27kg one off the beach, south coast NSW. Dad was only a boy and when GF beached it, dad ran down to grab it and said that he could see what it was from the scales shining in the moon light.
So I think a bit of light but not to much.
