Couple of questions mate, did you saw your landing net handle or buy it shorter? Also, do you ever use stickbaits in the seaway? I know that you use poppers but was just wondering.
Hi Howard, I sawed it off. Made it alot better to use if I was trying to control a fish on the rod with the other hand. Yes I do use stickbaits, the smaller tailor in the middle of the video was caught on a stickbait. They work ok, caught GT’s, bigeyes and plenty of tailor on them.
Yeah thats what I thought you may have done. Have you ever thrown poppers/stickbaits at fish busting up? Heading out tomorrow morning and wondering if it was worth a go if I come across some feeding fish
Yeah I’ve thrown poppers and stickbaits at surfce feeders before, it really depends on what size bait they are chasing, the larger the bait the more likely they will hit a popper. If they are feeding on 2cm white pilchards for example they will tend to ignore poppers, but if they are feeding on 10cm blue pilchards they will climb all over them. At the moment there is white pilchards between 2cm and 7cm, so it might be worth a shot but I’d catch a few on slugs first.
