Got out Wednesday night and managed just one 76cm jew from the pipe on live mullet.
Went out again this morning and scored a 110cm jew on a yakka. Also got a 60cm greenback tailor. Not much else out there.
The photo doesn’t do it justice but was fishing solo so no good pics. Good to see you out there Gordo
Last night I got one good run just as the tide turned with no hook up then this morning before sun up I boated a 65cm jew from the north wall eddy using tailor strip bait. With the rain and the weed this morning I had enough by 6 and headed home.
yogi, was that you parked right in the middle of the seaway last night??
A bit late Ricko but theres herring still around most structure western side of broadwater.
Similar for me Wayno, normally wait for second run, sometimes after multiple misses i’ve waited for 3rd, 4th run and sometimes they just don’t swallow enough particularly with mullet. Also find speed helps as soon as they go fast, first run or whenever, hit them hard.
Bit late but maybe for next time… The bait grounds off the seaway always produce good livies. Just gotta spot them on the sounder and jig through the schools.
I always tend to strike on the 1st run. However if I’m not hooking up the 1st Couple of times. I tend to play it slow. I’ll wind up any slack nice and slowly and make sure it’s still there, then I’ll strike hard as possible so that the hook sets into anything it touches. I also think the placement of the hooks into the live bait plays a huge part in successful hookups.
