Was out on Saturday and picked up my first legal seaway Jew at 80cm. Fished the slack tide at about 2pm with live mullet, the wind was blowing us from north to south over the pipe. Got it on our second drift and my brother got one at 70cm on the third drift that went back. Just as we started our 3rd drift there was a shark that launched it self out of the water about 20 metres from our boat.
I’ve heard that divers have observed from below many a surfer being trailed by a large shark, unknowns to the surfer. Here’s one sharked jew from the pipeline anchored a few years ago. I’m no expert but the teeth gaps visible in shoulder where about 1 inch, suggesting a pretty big nasty….10 minutes later a surfer paddled across the back of me. Having said all that, I think the abundance of normal “feed” keeps the nasty’s happy.
